Well, I was all packed up and ready to go last week, when all hell broke loose. You see, Samuel contracted herpes...yes, that is correct herpes...during his stay at the vet's boarding facility. When I picked him up on the 9th, he had drool sacks dangling from his lips and booger bubbles poping out his nose. Disgusting! He was feeling ok otherwise but when we went to get his health certificate his regular vet declined to examin him.

Here is Sam in the early phase, barely breathing :(

Here is Sam on the road to recovery :)

So started the journey of the last week. I was able to change my flight to Monday the 18th and get in to see the vet where he was boarded to start the process of identifying what he had, getting him better, and trying to get a health certificate. Well, needless to say he got worse...nearing death literally with his blood sugar (let us recall he is a diabetic too) at a very low level and the development of pneumonia. Yep you got it...off to pet emergency we went at 1am on the 14th. Well, after we got him back to life and on the road to recovery, I am pleased to say that my little boy is doing quite well, only sneezing on me 5 times this morning, graciously accepting when I help him blow his nose, and taking his medicine with minimal fuss.

The big question....will his health certificate get signed by the USDA and back to the vet in time for me to pick it up and get to the airport? I will blog later to let you know. My fingers are crossed for a good day today and to have a cat under the seat in front of me all the way to Congo.
