lockdown
so it is full blown election time here in congo. what that means it is tense and i am spending quite a bit of time at home. last weekend there was the prevelection posturing in which things got a bit chaotic. not to worry, i was safe at home baking, finally organizing all of my belongings, and reading. monday was the election day which had som logistics issues around the country but only reported incidents of security issues outside kinshasa. last night tensions were thick in the air as many businesses closed early after the eletction commission released the results of the first ten percent of the verified vote. Today, sms is spotty and we are on lockdown again. This is more just restriction to the area of gombe which is where we live and work. So we wait for the announcement of results officially scheduled for 6 dec and hope for the best. Not sure if i will get to leave as originally scheduled on the 9th. So we wait. The key is i am safe and comfortable and took all the necessary planning precautions with food and water so we i am good for a lockdown though i might need to figure out an excercise plan cause sittin n eatin is not good for the backside!
