Birthday Bonanza

Friday was not my birthday but we celebrated in style! A group of us headed over to Taj Tandoori a try a different take on Indian food. Well, the food was good and I would pick this place for indoor seating and getting a bit of a more upscale environment. Personally, I think The Green Garden still has my "I will be a regular" vote. After dinner we went out to Ibiza Bar. Now the fun begins!

Did I say dancing? Oh I meant dancing! I may have mentioned this before but the band plays everything from Jazz to Latin Rhythms to African Beats. When we arrived we chilled and chatted while listening to some excellent Jazz. Then, the party got started when the combination of African Beats and Latin Rhythms sounded. I think in 4 hours I only sat down for a total of 30 minutes. I was a dancing fool.

My colleague Tanya introduced me to one of the Belgian expats. After Tanya left he and I busted out a mean Salsa complete with turns and back dips. Good thing I was extra limber from having a few Tembos to drink. FUN!

The other birthday present of note is that Motor Pool has finally assigned me a self-drive vehicle!!! I am so excited. It is some sort of Toyota 4x4 manual transmission. If everyone thought my driving was scary before I have taken it to a hole new level in this car. This car can run through any bump, dip, man-eating pothole that Congo can throw at me. Oh yes, now I can drive faster, pass on both the left and the right, drive on the road or on the sidewalk. This is good fun. One exception, I think they have been loaning this car to people who do not know how to drive a standard. The clutch is definitely a bit of nuisance. And, shoes or barefoot driving required, flip flops are a driving impediment!

I am off to a BBQ here at my compound for a new arrival.
