After much ado about this PC I think I have finally fixed all of the glitches. I wish to go on strike against Microsoft since they again created the meltdown of my PC simply because they are at war with Google. Let's get real - have a good product and people will come. Cause meltdowns the people will flee.
New information - Thanks to dad, I have my new Skype phone! So, now you can try to call even if I am not logged onto my PC and I can roam around the house while chatting. So give me a jingle. And since I have been asked once already today - no we do not change time here like in the US. Arizona/Montana - 8 hours different and California - 9 hours different
Now on to my latest follies.
1. Have you ever driven into a drainage trench? That is one question I can say yes to. I was driving and opted to take the "into oncoming traffic turn" because everytime I try to take the "proper" turn I can feel the back tires working hard to not drop off into the the trench. Problem, the other side has a hole just as big and oh yes I drove right into it. I can say that the car was definitely almost on its side. Nothing though like Coach and 4 others coming to my rescue to lift the car while I drove in reverse. Not to fear - it is a regular occurance for us expats since my colleague did the same exact thing in the same spot the night before me!
2. Driving here as I have repeated is chaotic and blood boiling. But, a motorcycle taxi took it to a whole new level when on a 1 car street he opted to pass me with his passenger in tow on my left side (noting that I am in a land cruiser with no left side mirror) while I was entering the turn - YES to the LEFT! He then sat there and yelled at me about turning when in fact he was in the wrong. To make things worse 10 minutes later when I was on my way to my next errand he reappeared and continued to wag his finger at me. Man up - you were in the wrong! Yes, my blood is still on hot over that.
3. The Marine Corp ball was on Friday night. I am hoping I still have a job tomorrow LOL. I attempted to teach the ambassador and his wife this local dance shoulder move. He looked at me like I was off my rocker! Needless to say we all were in the same state of affairs when parting the hotel - fun was had by all. Of note for the evening, Monica and I were trying to take a picture displaying our revised footware when I fell over backwards and landed on my bumpkin in my black gown. Speaking of that gown, I did thankfully find it and fit into it. But I did seem to forget that it had been squashed in a box for several months. Downy wrinkle releaser did not come to my rescue and yes I did go to the ball with a rumpled wrinkle look. It got better when I ditched the shoes for my purple flip flops! It was my first Ball but am looking forward to next year.
Election campaigning is in full swing here now which is putting a level of urgency in the air. We are all waiting with curiousity to see what will happen. The locals that I talk with continue to ask me very challenging questions for which I have to hedge my responses.
I am looking forward to the 11th as a much needed day out the office.
Off to bed now. I have my second class of Lingala tomorrow at 8am. This is much needed because as of late I have been sitting through hours of personal discussions in a language that I cannot understand.
