One Year Anniversy

So, it was just 1 year and 1 week ago that I arrived here in Kinshasa. Wow, time flies! Now, the problem is that there are still a few things that no matter how much I see them it still sets me off or turns my stomach. Last night is a perfect example. They have the equivalent of a fair here, rides and all. But not like the Del Mar fair. We went last night to see the concerts. In short, 1. Why do you use the same one car gate for an entry and exit when you have 10 other gates? Because it makes more sense to have a 30-minute wait while people who have aggressively tried to go at the same time duke it out and figure out how they are going to squeeze by each other. 2. Would you really let your kid ride 2 stories above ground in an airplane amusement ride? Of course, who cares that this country has the lowest safety standard for mechanical things - including aircraft accidents. 3. Why park in the parking? You don't! Isn't it better to drive right up to the stage through 1000s of people on foot. 4. Why pay to enter? You don't have to pay - all you have to do is chance getting your face beat in by the mob and police around you. All over $0.50. 5. Monkeys are cute aren't they? Ahh, but oh the better to eat. Anybody for some BBQ? So yes, the experience was a fun pack 1 hour. All for the concert that the band did not even show up. Ah, I love Africa. Well, that is the fun for this week. Off to work because the end of the fiscal year is two months away and ooo weeee it is getting busy.
