Sweltering HEAT!

I miss dry heat! Yes, today it is about 100 degrees and at least 90% humidity. Ugh! It looks like it may rain but it could just be teasing us. Yesterday we hashed in the mighty spirit of St. Patty's day. It was hot as the dickens to be traipsing around Gombe in the mid-afternoon but it was rather entertaining to see the faces of the onlookers with all of these mostly white people walking/running - a sea of green clothing - up the roads.

Samuel has been having great African adventures defending his home. There is this mini dog that lives next door. Sam was out lounging on the patio last Sunday morning when puppy came sprinting over for a hello. Funny that Samuel is twice as big as the puppy but he still puffed himself up bigger and let out is fine kitty roars. Puppy took to barking for a good 30 minutes straight. Why so long? Because Samuel kept coming to the door and egging puppy on. I finally had to shut the curtains and restrict Samuel to the couch.

I had culinary success this week making a fine vegetable soap, twice, in my crock pot! I am quite proud of myself. Why eat soup if it is so hot you ask? Well, because the veggies gotta be cooked, you might as well have some broth along with it.

There appears to be an inflation affecting us. The price of gas has gone up, my food prices are definitely on the rise, etc etc. Ugh!

My friend Rose is visiting this week for work. She was one of my classmates when I was studying French. She was kind enough to bring me some Raisin Bran from her Commissary. That was the closest thing to All Bran she could get me. But I am thankful since I just paid about $18 for a 1 kilo box of All Bran. A girl has to have her fiber!!

Well, that is about the extent of the recent excitement. I am off to the gym so that I do not have to listen to my boyfriend tell me that the reason I am not losing weight is because I am not working out. He really is a sweet pea until he becomes coach again and I have a "listening problem" :) or is it that I am stubborn (I am sure you can each decide which for yourselves.)
